Fixed and Rotatable ConFlat Flanges
Fixed Blank and Bored Flanges
Fixed blank and bored ConFlat (CF) flanges come in a wide variety of sizes, offering versatility for different applications.
- Design: These flanges feature a one-piece design with a bolt-hole orientation that remains fixed relative to the fitting.
- Applications: Fixed blank flanges are ideal for sealing off unused chamber ports, ensuring a leak-tight assembly. They can also be machined to accommodate custom tube sizes or specific components.
- Bored Flanges: Fixed bored flanges are specifically engineered to accept standard tube sizes and can be welded onto various components, providing a reliable connection in vacuum systems.
Rotatable Blank and Bored Flanges
Rotatable blank and bored flanges consist of two components: an inner weld ring and an outer bolt ring.
- Flexibility: This design allows the outer bolt ring to rotate around the inner weld ring, facilitating bolt hole alignment with mating flanges in any orientation.
- Bored Flanges: Rotatable bored flanges are also designed for standard tube sizes and can be welded onto components, enhancing their adaptability in different setups.
Options for Flange Holes
Both fixed and rotatable flanges are available with two types of hole configurations:
Clearance Holes: These through-holes provide sufficient clearance for bolts to pass through both flanges, allowing them to be secured with nuts or plate nuts. This design is essential for ensuring proper alignment and secure fastening.
Tapped Holes: These are imperial or metric threaded holes machined into the flange. Tapped holes enable a clearance-hole flange to be connected without the need for additional nuts or plate nuts, simplifying the assembly process. When choosing tapped flanges, it’s important to consider the orientation of the bolt holes in the components to ensure compatibility and ease of installation.
